Jakob Skovgaard-Petersen
Statslig islampolitik i Egyptens uddannelsessystem

Engelsk summary:

This article aims to describe the process of how Islam came to be a political tool. From the 19th Century one can observe how the development of the modern, controlling state leads to the takeover of a hitherto autonomous field, religion, with experts and rules of its own. This development is demonstrated in the educational field in this context. In the article it is pointed out how a line can be drawn from a beginning regulation towards an instrumentalist approach. The Islam-tool is powerful but is also used by the opposition. The past decade, the state has therefore pursued a strategy of monopolizing and minimizing the use of the tool. The article concludes that the Egyptian state is partly responsible for the emergence of the form of abstract, systemic Islam that is an efficient tool in the hands of the opposition today.
