'The economic and social development of democratic Spain 1975-2000'

The article offers an analysis of economic policy and the components of the economic development in Spain after Franco. Attention is paid to the special importance of EEC/EU for Spain with respect to both economic development and policy. The uneven regional and social impact of economic progress is analysed, and in relation to this the article touches upon the impact of economic progress on the public sector, the labour market, and on gender relations. Finally, the impact of emigration to Spain is discussed.
